Maura Pozek: Queen of the Creative Prom Dress
While I think end-of-the-schoolyear dances are overrated rites of passage, I (temporarily) suspend my dogmatism to notice a Missouri teen who is making prom memories and fashion statements. In 2010, Maura made a colorful, ruffled prom dress out of Doritos bags. The following year, she designed a one-shouldered gown made from 4000 pop tabs. For 2012, the high school senior used 30 cardboard bags for yet another flairful creation.
What imagination, craftsmanship, and patience can accomplish!

What's more, she doesn't look like a slut. Why can't a woman be both attractive and respectable, why can't we have a little bit of discretion? Why do I have to know what color a woman's panties are, and if she is even wearing them?
Yes, been at UMass too long....
I noticed that also, Ed, about Maura's dresses. Another reason to give them a 'thumbs up.'
2. Oh,these are superb Cocktail Dresses ,everyone will like it.
Maura actually won a scholarship to Stephens College, which has a nationally recognized Fashion Design School. She won't the scholarship for her pop-tab dress which was actually an unoriginal design that she copied off of someone else's idea on the internet. She rejected the scholarship stating on her Facebook that she did not need to go to school to be a designer.
Thanks for sharing, Zhaikal. I wonder if she will regret turning down the scholarship.
I've seen Zhaikal has made this comment on several websites. Maura's dad replied at a couple. Based on her dad's comments, she got something like $13K in scholorships and that school costs $35K. Look at NPR or HuffPost.
Thanks, Mark, for the clarification. When it's all said and done, Maura still had the wherewithal and talent to make these delightful dresses.
