Mr. Reed Captures the Zeitgeist

Fred gets stoked about the debt ceiling debate. Caveat: On the bawdy side.

Update: Sad to see these conservatives (and new kids on the block) that went squishy on this important vote ... Lou Barletta, Dan Benishek (my congressman), James Lankford, Sean Duffy, Allen West, and Kristi Noem.

As public education has in large part done away with the Trivium, it seems that our current crop of Americans are unable to evaluate the political rhetoric that dominates the airwaves based on logical reasoning of the facts. Since when does overspending less than you were going to overspend before constitute a spending cut? And how in the world did Congress get away with creating a new method of skirting our checks and balances out of this (The so-called "Super Congress")? And seriously--how is the media getting away with suggesting that this whole thing is a Tea Party machination when few Tea Partiers voted for this? Only in America...

In the words of Douglas Wilson, "Paper promises, like paper money, require honest men to execute them. And that, as it turns out, is where our real shortage is." (dougwils.com)

Thanks for commenting, Maestro. Indeed, Americans have been dumbed down, but, sadly, many don't even seem to mind as long as the bread and circus keep flowing - the attacks on the Tea Party are part of the circus.
