Because I'm Fond of New England ...

Laura W. has such an artful way with words: "IN A FEW DAYS, the midsummer meadows of New England will outlive their prime. The milkweed and the goldenrod, the Queen Anne’s lace and the thistle are already beginning to flag and fade. The scent of grass and mineral that rises from the hidden, exhaling earth is not as forceful as it was weeks ago. There is not much time to spare."

But I'm not fond of the raging culture war that rages from Hartford, Connecticut to Boston, Massachusetts to Bangor, Maine where conservatives, Christians, and (moral) counterculturalists aren't appreciated.

Truly, there is not much time to spare ...

A fine link. Reading Laura W's mini-essay was a refreshing treat. Even the reader comments that followed were a pleasure to read.

Agree. Laura's readers are also unusually discerning folks.
